Later in that afternoon, after learning how to swim in our hotel. We headed to Oriental Village for the cable-car ride. The journey took us 30 minutes to drive from Pantai Tengah.
When we reached our destination, we were so worried that it will rain because the obvious signs of raining. Gloomy sky and strong wind made us rushed to the ticket counter as fast as possible.
We bought tickets for the cable car ride. It costs is RM15 per person for a Malaysian. Non-Malaysian need to pay RM30.
There was no need to queue and we jumped into our cable car.
The first 2 minutes was okay.. After that, I was freaking out because the cable car ride up to the viewing platform was so high!
The fact that the cable car brought us away from the ground was very terrifying! It was 652.5 meters above the sea level. So scary.
When we reached the first platform, we felt like we did not want to board the cable car back to the station.
Things get scarier when all the cable cars stopped suddenly and emergency alarm went off when we were at the first platform. OMG!!
After using the standing-binoculars to view the part of Langkawi and snapping few pictures here and there, we hurried off to the second and also last platform. The second platform led us to the sky bridge.
When we alighted from the cable car, we started to walk down the wooden stairs to reach the bridge. A big warning sky can be seen when we were on our way. This really gets on our nerves. .
Finally, after a short walk down the mountain, we reached the sky bridge.
We were shocked of the height that we were standing at.. Our legs were trembling and our hands were cold at that time.
Some passers-by laughed at us when we were motionless at the bridge.. A mother walking with her two twin daughters also gave us a sinister smile... my god..
We had to move on.. We pretended that we were not scared and walked until the end of the sky bridge. What a terrifying experience.. Strong wind almost blew us away and we had to hold on tightly to the bars along the bridge..
After taking a few pictures, we ran back to the platform to continue our journey to the Mount Mat Cincang.
Just walked up few flight of stairs, we were on top of the mount Mat Cincang. We were so fortunate to see a tornado in the middle of the sea.
We thought that the tornado will hit the cable car so we scurried off to take the cable car back to the station.
It was a wonderful and terrifying experience as well..
When we reached the station, we were very hungry because we did not filled ourselves up with any food since the morning buffet breakfast at hotel.
However, I tried to take as many pictures as possible before leaving. I went to the Mini Zoo in the Oriental Village. No signs of rabbits as claimed by local bloggers.
There were only less than 5 deers relaxing under a shady tree.
When my boyfriend was helping me to take picture, the person in charge asked us to buy the food for the deers before taking picture. We pretended that we were Hong Kong tourists who do not understand malay language. Haha.
Then we stopped at the various bridges at Oriental Village. There was a Red Bridge, Flags Bridge and many more.
Rain started to pour down after snapping a few pictures. It didn't stopped us from exploring Oriental Village.
We bought some Langkawi t-shirts for RM4 per piece. Quite cheap.
Then we drove all the way back to Pantai Chenang to have dinner there. We couldn't make up our mind whether to eat western meal or chinese cuisines.
At last, we decided to dine in at the Rasa Restaurant along the Pantai Chenang shoplots.
We chose this place as they offer various choice of meals.
I ordered Fish and Fillet, one of the old time favorites. It came in a big portion with french fries and a small slice of lemon to be squeezed onto the fish fillet. It was Rm12 only.
My boyfriend ordered the Marinara Spaghetti and it came with big fresh prawns, chunks of fish, clams, and mussels. This 1 was RM15.
Then we ordered dessert, Double Trouble for both of us. Nice name and nice taste too. =)
The environment of Rasa Restaurant was very nice and we had our dinner open air, together with other forign tourists. We felt like we were foreign tourists too. Haha.
We drove back to hotel for rest after all the activities that we had. We bought some beers at the Gecko Mini Market, right in front of our hotel. We bought Carlsberg and some dried cuttlefish.
What a nice combination when you drink and eat cuttlefish!
Tomorrow was our last day in Langkawi and we were looking forward for swimming lessons tomorrow morning =)
The next morning it was raining cats and dogs. We couldn't go to swim as what we planned. So disappointing.. We played cards for a while until 10am. Then, we went to the Coco Valley to buy duty free chocolates and beers before we back KL.
Next, we drove all the way to Kuah, the heart of Langkawi to buy the ferry ticket to Kuala Perlis and decided to visit the Lang Square which we didn't go on the first day because of the KTM train delay that spoiled our plan.
When we stopped by to buy the ferry ticket, we were so nervous when the next ferry ride is 12.30pm and the next ferry was at 3.30pm. No way we can buy the 3.30pm ferry because we bought our bus ticket back to KL at 2.30pm.
No choice. I bought the 12.30pm ferry ticket while they returned back the car at the shop. We settled all the things in just a mere 20 minutes time. Lucky us.
But...We did not have sufficient time to visit Eagle Square. I think all of us were very disappointed because we had to rushed back and couldn't take pictures of the big eagle statue that signifies we were at Langkawi.
However, luck still with us. When we were on the way to board the ferry, I saw the eagle statue.. Far far away. I had to zoom in to capture a nice piece of it.
The ferry that we took was smaller and it was packed with passengers.
We had to put our luggage on our lap for 1 hour before we alighted at Kuala Perlis pier. When we arrived, we ate KFC again because there was no other restaurants nearby.. REally sick of KFC already.
The day we arrived at Langkawi also KFC. And I can tell you that there are many KFC in Langkawi. For those of you who like to eat KFC, don't worry. You can eat plenty of them when you are there! =P
The bus from Kuala Perlis to Kuala Lumpur took 12 hours again.. No difference with KTM train ride.. The bus had to stop at all the small towns in Kedah to pick up 1-2 passengers..
When the clock strikes 8pm, we were still in the bus and in one of the small towns in Kedah.. We couldn't wait to jump out from the bus already.. 8.50 pm, we reached Penang and stopped for 30 minutes for dinner. After dinner, we had to bear for another 4 hours ride to KL. We couldn't slept soundly..
Finally, my boyfriend woke me up when he saw Masjid Jamek, his working place. We reached KL!!! The bus stopped at Pudu and we took a taxi back home.. Reached home around 2am.. Unpacked things and took a quick shower before I dozed off into LA LA LAND...
-END of my long journey to the north (not journey to the west) =P
