My phone was ringing. I can hear my new ringtone Bubblepop by Hyuna. It was 8.30am on a Sunday morning. So reluctant to leave my comfortable bed to pick up my phone. I slide my phone to answer but it was too late. Missed call from my mum. Thought it's not important and crawl to my bed to continue my sleep.
Then my mum called my sister. Something bad..
My dad's shop was burnt down to ashes early in the morning. The shop is rented to a Malay guy for car wash business. They called my dad at 7am and informed my dad about the incident. My dad quickly rushed to his shop. But when he was on his way there, he saw the fire-engine was returning to the nearby stationhouse.
When my dad reached there, he saw only pile of ashes. Nothing left. All burnt down in less than 30 minutes. Short circuit was assumed to be the cause of the fire. The wooden shop was built in 1983 by my grandfather and my father with the help of some Malay contractors and workers.
My family ran a coffee shop and car wash business in year 1999. Business was good and we made heaps of money in the first few years. But others have started to open their car wash business too. Over the years, more than 10 car wash shops are opened and our business turned quite bad.
However, my brother, sister and I had an awesome childhood there. We spent most of our weekends at my mum's coffee shop, eating snacks that my mum bought for business. We watched cartoons and movies using the CD player and play at the big field behind our shop.
I miss all these. Memories which now was burnt down to ashes. I miss the shop. I miss helping my parents at the shop when I was in secondary school. I remember helping my mum to cook for customers and wiping cars after they were washed by my dad's workers.
Feeling so homesick now. Wish to go home and comfort my parents.

Diwali food marathon
Happy Diwali everyone!Public holiday but felt bored. No where else to go. Browsed through the vouchers in webuy.com.my and bought few for a dessert in Isenbin at SS2, PJ. Printed it out and went there to try their signature dessert.
Toppings were colourful, looked appealing but tasted below average. My friend had 1 bowl of this and guess what he found inside! A strand of hair! Damn.. So dirty. Wondered how they prepared the desserts..
Other bloggers reviewed this shop and commented on their poor service. But the service was fast and efficient for me. Not a problem. Real problem is hygienic..
Fortunately, we bought the voucher for rm3.90 instead of their usual price of rm6(nt inclusive of tax and service charge). Totally not worth it..
The rest of the afternoon on a public holiday was at home.. Did nothing much. Copied the pictures we took in Singapore into dvd.
Just came back from Tropicana mall for some grocery shopping and supper at Medan Selera, PJ. Must try the beef satay from this stall. Juicy and flavourful satay! 60 cents each. Yummy
Had so much food tonight. Food with lots of calories.. Die..
List of food I had for supper:
1) Steaming hot nasi lemak
2) Two otak-otak
3) Hot milo
4) 1 Chicken Wing
5) 1 Satay
6) 1 peanut butter and choc waffle
So full now.. Wonder if I could sleep tonight. =.=

Weekend outing-Oxford Shoes Craze
It's Saturday. Had our usual hang out at the shopping mall. Went to 1 Utama shopping mall. Window shopping from 12.30pm to 8pm. I think I can join the walkathon next time. * wink
Spotted a pair of beautiful Oxford shoes by Hawkeye at Jusco. Only size 38 and 40. Not my size.. Went to all the shoes boutique in 1 Utama but couldn't find 1.
Will look for it now and then ;)
The oxford shoes I tried on at Jusco looks like this:

Burglary
It was Monday. A blue Monday. We went to work as usual. I was invigilating examinations in school. I took out my phone to check any new SMSs from my bf.
I noticed that I had a missed call from an unknown number. And a SMS. Read it and had a shock out of my life. My hands were trembling..
The SMS read like this.. "I am Sook Ling, your housemate. Our house was burgled. Call this number ASAP."
I called the number immediately and it was my housemate's friend number. Her friend explained the situation to me briefly.
She said the an Indian burglar pried open our grill gate and did something to the bolt at the wooden door and entered our house. Took few laptops, cameras and mobile phones.
I called everyone but no one answered. Damn. I called my bf. He was shocked when I told him what happened.
We went home together. A police patrol car was seen in front of our apartment.
This is bad..
When we walked into our house, we saw four policemen with shortguns were taking the details from my housemate. My housemate was alone when the burglary happened.
According to her, the burglar crawled in through the small gap from the opened grill gate and ransacked our house without any detection. Then he realized that my housemate was at home.
He approached her room and pretended to be one of the apartment's management committee. He told my housemate that a burglar came in just now and asked if she was alone.
When my housemate answered him, he grabbed her hand and ask her to take out her valuables. Her mobile phone and camera were gone. The burglar grabbed the other 2 laptops in the living room and walked away.
My housemate was crying when she told the police what happened. An unforgettable experience.. Really pity on her. I think it affected her psychologically..
Later in the afternoon, we went to the police station to obtain the police report.
What a day.. Wondering why such thing happened to us. .

Hello Kitty Golden Half Camera
I came across this special limited edition toy camera at The Click Shop. Really love this camera. It uses the normal 35mm film. Love lomography! This camera produces good pictures under low light and over exposure.
The TOP 5 REASONS why you should have this. Which I am going to have it sooner or later. =P
Reason 1: It saves your $$$.The half frame camera enables you to you double the amount of pictures you take. For example 1 frame = 2 pictures, 36 exp = 72 shots! You can also create your own short story with your pictures side-by-side.
Reason 2: Attractive. The Hello Kitty Golden Half Camera is a mini plastic camera that blends fun with nostalgia! It lets you remember the good ol' days of film cameras too!
Reason 3: Small and Convenient. You can bring it anywhere. Just tuck in your handbag and you're ready to snap some nice pictures!
Reason 4:You dont need the Dummies Book to operate this cute lil' camera! Hassle free load and shoot camera.Just load the film and start shooting!Just two setting, sunny & cloudy. The only feature that is a must have in all cameras is the SHUTTER!
Reason 5: Picture Quality.Look at the pictures below. Awesome effect and the quality is what it's worth to shout for!

BF's Bro B'Day
Last night we celebrated my bf's bro 21st brithday at home. We bought a chocolate cake from King's Bakery at Section 14, PJ.The cake was not delicious at all and of course it was not worth the price of Rm35 for a 0.5kg cake. We also bought some vegetables and Enoki mushroom from nearby supermarkets.
The birthday event started at 7pm sharp. We had steamboat together and watched Laputa from Studio Ghibli and continued with a horror movie "Insidious". The birthday boy cut the cake around 10pm and he said it was his first borthday cake in 21 years.. Haha. I don't believe this. Some pictures we captured last night.

Weekend at Big Bad Wolf
Last Saturday, we spent our weekend fun at Times Square & Big Bad Wolf. My boyfriend went to Times Square for a bowling match with other companies. So, we followed and went along for shopping.
Alas, it was too early by the time we reached there.None of the shops were opened except McD. My sister and brother were with me and our stomachs were growling. So, we went around looking for KFC for breakfast as the McD breakfast was not appealing for our choosey appetite.
We found KFC but it was not opened yet so we were loitering around for 10 minutes. And then, we rushed in KFC for breakfast. Haha. Wondering if they have any prizes for first customer. =P
I ordered a Colonel burger and my fav cheesy wedges for my breakfast. Yummy. Then we shopped until 1pm when my boyfriend called me that he just finished the match at second runner up. Not bad. =)
Then, we continued our fun weekend to Serdang. To where the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair was. We used our GPS but the damn GPS is using Papago software. The pointers are not pointing to the right direction. We missed several junctions but luckily we managed to make our way to the book fair.
We were at the book fair for 3 hours and then returned home at 6.30pm. We were exhausted and thirsty.Later, we still went to the Curve for movie and dinner.Watched 1911 movie, the 100th movie of Jackie Chan. Not really enjoyed it coz it was more to history revision for me...
Anyway, it was indeed a great and tiring weekend!

Remember when you had the last exam?
For some reasons, I like looking at my students' expressions when they are doing their last minute revision. Holding a thick book with sweaty palms, trying their best to install all the hard facts in their tiny brains.. Haha. Remind me of the time when I had my exam. Although it was not long ago when I had my last paper; it was last year btw. This week and the coming week will be exam week and I am one of the invigilators. Kinda boring to walk around in that small class cluttered with 18 students only..
Lecka Lecka
As usual, we spent our weekend at the Curve, watching a great movie together and have a cup of Lecka Lecka ice-cream. We are not used to eating pricey ice cream like this, but that day we came across the advertisement, you just need to show them your phone as a Digi subscribe. You just need to pay Rm6.90 instead of Rm9.90 for 3 different flavours. I personally feel that there is nothing much to shout about this ice cream.. And the attitude of the employees..my gosh.. it's time for the management to do something on this..
A Little Treat A Day Makes ME Happy
The best thing in my work is you get to have free breakfast! Some of my colleagues are so generous that they treat all of us breakfast;most of the days. They bought local Malaysian food for brekkie time like nasi lemak, nasi dagang, nasi kerabu & some delicacies like pisang goreng (banana fritters) & steaming hot curry puffs. Not to mention it was my first time eating nasi dagang and nasi kerabu. I managed to capturea picture of Nasi Kerabu.Tasted nice somehow =)
Don't know much why it is called as such but I think it's because of the pale blue colour of the rice. rice of bluish colour= nasi kerabu. Agree? =P

All by Myself
See the pile of journals, and books? Not sure what went wrong with me last week. I went to UM main library after meeting up with my supervisor. I still remember that day was a freaking cold day. Shivering in the staff room for the half day and spent another half day shivering in my uni library. Despite the coldness, I spent about 4 hours gathering all the relevant information for my research.
Eat to Live or Live to Eat?
Went to Pavillion last Sunday for a dinner with my boyfriend's aunties. Ordered Salmon &Salmon Roe Ramen with miso soup base set at the Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Tasted amazing but somehow after a while, it was salty..Couldn't finish eating the ramen despite I ordered a small set.
Background of Ramen
Listed at Number 8 in the World's Delicious Food? But not for this 1 I had. Coz it was Rm41, way too expensive for a dinner set. What do you think?Ramen (ラーメン rāmen?, IPA: [ɽaːmeɴ]) is a Japanese noodle dish. It consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat- or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and uses toppings such as sliced pork (チャーシュー chāshū?), dried seaweed (海苔 nori?), kamaboko, green onions, and occasionally corn. Almost every locality in Japan has its own variation of ramen, from the tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen of Kyushu to the miso ramen of Hokkaido. It is listed at number 8 on World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll complied by CNN Go in 2011. (Adapted from Wikipedia)
