4 days 3 nights in Phuket

 15 April 2012

A short trip to Phuket. The trip started with five of us sipping a cup of cold cappuccino at Coffee Bean in LCCT. Then we boarded the plane at 4.15pm.

The flight took about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We hired a 4-wheel car with driver for our way to our hotel at Nanai Road, Patong.

We arrived and checked in. Took 3 rooms of 2 of us in each room.We quickly dashed to our room and unpack our things from our backpacks. Just right after we had finished unpacking, the phone in the room rang. The receptionist said that they had given the wrong room type to us. The 1 we had now was a superior room instead of deluxe room.

We had to pack everything from toothbrush to clothes back into our backpacks and waited about 20 minutes for the receptionist to bring us the new room key. Then someone knocked our door. It was the receptionist. She said they had decided to upgrade the room for us and told us that we could continue our stay in the room..

What the xxxxx! Without wasting our precious time on that Sunday afternoon, we quickly stopped a tuk tuk to Talad Tairod or better known as the Phuket Weekend Market. As it was a Sunday, it was the last day we can stroll at the night market. So we appreciated each and every second being at the night market.

Some of the food stalls there.

We were famished and after making rounds of looking for a place to dine in, we decided to give it a go at one of the eatery stalls there. After all, it was the only stall with menu in English. Haha. Unfortunately, we made the wrong decision as the food was below standard. I ordered a plate of Pad Thai and my bf ate a plate of simple fried noodle with pork. The pork meat had a funny taste and we gave up on it.

Some of the BBQ pork satay stall at the night market.

Banana crepes. With chocolate syrup and others with fine castor sugar. We bought and ate it when we back to our hotel. Average taste. Too sweet.

Took a picture with the cute red Coca Cola truck at the back.

We tried the grilled squid.and it tasted good for the first few bites but...

The cuttlefish was not cleaned thoroughly! But still my Bf was innocently smiling at the camera. And that was before putting it into his mouth. Haha! (One of my friends had all the slimy white thing all over his mouth when he bit into the center part of the squid)

We then walked further looking for snacks and bought some hair clips, hot pants, slippers and some snacks. The guys were shopping furiously that I did. Haha. I found out that Thais are extremely down to earth. They will not show sour faces when you failed to buy their products after hard bargaining with them.

Then we took a tuk tuk back to hotel and watched some Thai channels on TV. Later that night we walked to a nearby stall to have our supper.

We had a bowl of pork meehoon to warm our tummy.

16 April 2012

My bf and I woke up early and watched TV while waiting for our friends to wake up from their slumberland. It took a lot of effort to call to their room and ask them to wake up..

We took some pictures at the swimming pool in our hotel.

After that, we started our morning with brunch at the McDonald in Jungceylon shopping mall.It took us about 15 minutes to walk there. We ordered Samurai Pork Burger at McD and to our amazement, they gave us a super large cup of Coke and French fries in large size. But of course the price was costly(160baht) than McD meals in Malaysia.

Next we leisurely strolled along the Patong Beach and came across a woman tuk tuk driver. She agreed to bring us to all the places of interest in Phuket for 1500 baht for the 1 day trip. We all jumped into her tuk tuk and went for the day trip.

We explored various of popular viewpoints in Phuket,Seashell Museum which we all think it is not worth for the price of 200baht, Cashewnut Factory, Pearl Farm, Wang Jewellery and Central Festival shopping mall.

We had a really unforgettable memory when we experienced tremours about 4.45pm, while we were having the day tour with the tuk tuk driver. We were told by our tuk tuk driver that tremours were felt at all areas in Phuket due to the earthquake in Acheh, Indonesia. We were strolling at the second floor of Wang Jewellery shop at that time.. We were all worried that tsunami will happen.

We were informed that the Thais were extremely worried that tsunami will strike the island at anytime. They were fleeing to Phuket Hill and higher areas as a precaution. Our plan for the day was messed up due to the unavoidable incident. We had to return to our hotel after our quick dinner at the Central Festival mall.

However, on the way back we were stucked in heavy traffic jam which took us more than an hour to reach our hotel. Later that night, we booked our snorkeling package at the hotel reception for 1500 baht per person. The day trip included transfer to the pier, speed boats, seafood lunch, island hopping and snorkelling.

17April 2012
We woke up pretty early that day and got ourselves reay at the lobby waiting for our van transfer to the pier.

Our speed boat to the Phi Phi Island

 Approaching the infamous island.

Not much spaces left on the sandy beach because there were too many tourists!

Later we took the speed boat to Phi Phi Island, Monkey Island, snorkeling twice before our seafood lunch on the island.

Drinking water just like us =)

Towards the end of our trip, we had our seafood lunch at Tonsai Seafood restaurant at Phi Phi island.

The day tour package included this meal for us. We had the best satisfying seafood meal that day. Met a couple from Australia who has retired and what they have been doing for the past 20 years are traveling. They had my dream realised!

When we returned to hotel, we were extremely exhausted yet we still spent our night swimming at the hotel. Five of us went into the pool and not long after that we found that some guests were peeking at us.. Then the receptionist walked towards us and checked the Pool draining system. We felt that it was not right so we had a look around. Much to our surprise the water from the pool seeped into the lobby!

Gosh. We couldn't stay any longer in the pool as we were so embarrassed of what had happened.. We quickly wrapped ourselves with towel and rushed back to our rooms.. What an interesting way to end the day..

After drying up ourselves, we walked half an hour from hotel to Patong Beach to peek at the popular nightlife in Phuket.

 18 April 2012

On the last day, our fiends woke up so late that our initial plan to have a stroll nearby was cancelled. We spent our morning time by taking pictures in the room.

We packed our things and checked out. We carried our bags to the nearby Jungceylon Shopping mall for lunch. Later we took the tuk tuk to the airport.. Miss Phuket so much. But my boyfriend and I will be back to Phuket in 2 weeks time.. Haha
