My Langkawi Story Part 3

It was our  first morning in Langkawi. We started our day by having buffet breakfast at the hotel before our morning plan of Island Hopping.

The hotel served average breakfast like noodles, hotdogs, fruits, cornflakes, milk, and fruit juice. We ate a lot so that we can skip lunch later. Haha

We were at the jetty, waiting for the arrival of our speed boat to bring us to three islands; Dayang Bunting Island, Singa Besar Island and the Beras Basah Island.

Journey started!

First stop at the Lake of Pregnant Maiden or better known as Tasik Dayang Bunting.

Free catfish massage. The fishes were really big. Btter think twice before you put your leg in!

At first, there was a Malay couple trying out the fish massage. Then after we joined in, many people flocked by and tried it too!

Another close up of the big catfish! Ignore the big toe in the picture. I have no idea whose toe is that. Haha

There were lots of monkey that habituated in this island.

This was one mischievous monkey that tried to grab my friend's backpack. When we realized, we stared at him. And you know what he did. He looked innocently at us while playing with its feet.  =.=

Our boat came and brought us to the next stop, which is the fish farm somewhere nearby the Lake of Pregnant Maiden.

We felt like we were cheated because the boat driver asked us to pay extra RM10 to go to the fish farm. We did not want to pay but he threaten us that he is not sure if he will be coming back to fetch us or not if we are not going.

No choice. We had to go. When we arrived, we were very angry and disappointed with the fish farm. It was still under construction and we could only viewed bot not more than 10 types of fish there!

 To be continued...

My Langkawi Story Part 2

After a short walk along the Chenang beach, we headed to Coco Valley where the shop sells duty free chocolates, liquors and perfumes mostly.
We were surprised that the liquors were so cheap that we can't believe our eyes. It is cheaper than a bottle of mineral water. Rm1.30 for a can of SKOL Beer and Rm2.50 for a bottle of Carlsberg. OMG!

We grabbed some of the liquors to drink in the hotel later and we also bought some chocolates as souvenirs.

After that, we walked around the two long shop lots along the beach. The architecture of the shops presented Bali-feel to us. Most of the shops are uniquely built and we cant stop taking pictures of them.

After snapping pictures of here and there, we decided to take our dinner at Orkid Ria Restaurant. They served Chinese cuisines and fresh seafood.

The price is average for noodles and rice but it is a bit costly for the fresh seafood compared to the price in my hometown, Sandakan.

The restaurant has nice ambience which makes it great for you to dine in.

We ordered 1 dozen of satay, 3 plates of beef fried rice, vege and a plate of noodles.

Our friend helped us to snap this photo.

After dinner, we drove back to hotel. All of us felt really really tired after the long way to Langkawi. Our room number is 1324 which sounds bad in chinese translation. 1324 in chinese means 'once you are born you are easily to die'..
Plus, the surrounding of the hotel is way too creepy at night.

Especially the green dim lights at the main entrance of the hotel. It makes the driver very difficult to locate the entrance..

Some of the lights along the hotel went flickering all night. We often lost our way when we walked back to our room. No lift and it has many staircases that lead to the next floor. It will confuse you and makes it more like a haunted mansion than a three star hotel...

After resting for a while, we went to have a night view at Chenang Beach. We viewed nothing at the beach because it was too dark and we could only hear the waves hitting the shore..

My Langkawi Story Part 1

Our trip to Langkawi was fun and tiring as well especially the transportation that we chose really consumed a lot of time. We took the KTM (Keretapi Tanah Melayu) from KL Sentral on the 18th June 2010 (friday night).

My boyfriend and I reached KL Sentral around 8pm. We met with our two other friends at there too. Then we had a very quick dinner at Ayamas.

We urged the waiters to serve our food quickly as we had to rushed for the train at 9pm. We were so excited and couldn't wait anymore to board the train.

We stand by at the Platform A before 9pm but our mood was spoiled by the delayed train. Announcement was made and we were informed that the train was rescheduled to 10.20pm!

We walked around and at last seated in front of the KTM counter. They played cards while I continued with my Twilight book (just to kill time).

Finally, we boarded the train at 10.40pm but the train did not move at all. They did not make any announcement regarding to the second delay.

All the passengers waited angrily and some of them were fast asleep... We made fun of them and said that when they wake up, they were still in KL Sentral.. Haha.

We took some silly pictures to kill time again..
We waited and waited.. AT last, the train started to move at 12 midnight..
We were fast asleep but we couldn't sleep soundly because the train stopped at several train stations along the way to Kuala Perlis.

Woke up, sleep back, woke up again and sleep back again.. It was morning already. We captured some of the beautiful scenery in Kedah especially the large green paddy fields.
Reached Alor Setar at 10.15am. Yeah! We headed to the taxi station and after bargaining, we agreed to pay Rm50 for the taxi to Kuala Perlis. The distance from Alor Setar to Kuala Perlis was approximately 1 hour. I managed to take some pictures of the Alor Setar town while I was in the fast moving taxi.
Here we are at the Kuala Perlis ferry port. We bought tickets for our ferry ride to Langkawi.
It costs Rm18 per person and we had to sit for another 1 hour in the ferry to reach our destination. The ferry is filled with colourful seats.
We were busy taking pictures when we were in the ferry.

Another ferry speeding back to Kuala Perlis while we were on the way to Langkawi.
Our destination, Langkawi!
We rented a car for just Rm50 per day and drove to our hotel in Pantai Tengah.
Check in to our hotel around 3pm..

Nothing good to say about this hotel except the nice swimming pool..

After putting down our luggage in the hotel room, we drove our rented car Iswara to the famous beach in Langkawi, Pantai Chenang.
White sandy beach and many local and foreign tourists were spotted at there.
Parasailing at the Chenang Beach.
Capturing the beautiful waves that hit the beach in the late afternoon.

my lucky day on 13th June 2010

Today, I went to Mid Valley Shopping Mall with my boyfriend, his brother and my brother. We walked to the bus stop opposite Jaya One to take a taxi. The taxi costs us RM8.50 which is cheaper than taking the bus for 4 of us.

Then we walked around and went to Jaya Jusco. I searched and chose all the swimming suits that available there. At last, I picked 1 which is not a bikini. =P

It looks like a halter neck top which is alright for me;not too much of exposure and looks a bit sexy too. =). It costs RM200 but after there is a 70% discount for it. It is very worth it after the discount.

After that, we walked around and we went to the Philips My Life My Expo at the event hall. We got free snacks, free drinks, and freebies. My boyfriend and I played the Smile Matching Contest. We had to match the smiling faces of 5 persons to the right place in 10 seconds. HAHA.

We won and we got a small gift as a reward. At the Philips event, we got ourselves notebooks, key chains, mobile phone hanger, pens and FUN of course!

When they went to the washroom, I walked around by myself and went into MOMOE, a Japanese clothes boutique. I found a pair of nice pink sandal with a small pink ribbon on the top. It looks nice. I turned the sandal around and saw the price! It is so unbelievable cheap! From RM69.90 to RM10!

Without thinking much, I just bought the sandals. When they came back from the washroom, my boyfriend was shocked because I was so fast in grabbing something from a shop! Haha. As usual, i told him, "This is cheap, I will regret if i don't buy it.."

After dinner, we took the taxi back home and all of us were extremely... HAPPY! because of all the free premium "chocolates"!!! wink wink >.<

Revisit to Malacca (Day 2)

It was day 2 at Malacca City. We ate buffet breakfast at hotel. The hotel only served chiffon cake, hotdogs, fried rice, fried noodles, vegetables, baked beans, toasted bread, coffee, tea and tasteless orange juice...

After breakfast, we walked to the A Famosa from our hotel for 15 minute. It was very hot. Luckily we applied sunblock SPF 50. HAHA..

We took some pictures at the St. Paul hill and Church of St. Francis Xavier.
Enjoying the breathtaking view at the St Paul Hill
A little bit of history about St Paul's Church
"The ruins of St. Paul's church stand at the summit of St. Paul's hill near the remains of A Famosa fortress. The site was originally occupied by the "Chapel of the Annunciation", which was built in 1521 by Duarte Coelho in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for saving his life in the South China sea."
(Adapted from http://www.orientalarchitecture.com/malaysia/melaka/stpauls.php)

There were many tourists at the A Famosa because it was the school holiday and a public holiday as well.
  The Dutch graveyard
"The Dutch Graveyard is an old cemetery located within the core zone of the Malacca Unesco World Heritage Site. Located at the foot of St Paul's Hill, the cemetery dates back to the last quarter of the 17th century, when burials were carried out between 1670 and 1682."
(Adapted from http://www.malaccaguide.com/dutch_graveyard.html)

Captured some pictures here and there before we walked back to hotel for check out.
A very big jackfruit for display at the Pesta Masakan event on the second day. The event will lasts for around 2 weeks in Malacca.
Making cendol using "Gula Melaka"
Traffic police were busy controlling the traffic due to the big crowd and long queue in front of the chicken rice shop..
You have to sacrifice your time and energy for a plate of chicken rice.... Are you willing to do like this for a plate of chicky rice? Hope the people applied sunblock SPF 50 because it was a super hot afternoon!
After we packed our luggage and check out, we walked to the fountain at The Stadhuys. We waited the town bus to go Malacca Sentral. 50 minutes of waiting...

Finally, the old bus was here! RM1.50 bus ticket to the Malacca Sentral. It was very packed inside. We were like sardines in the bus..

It was a non air conditioned bus which caused my hair like this...

We can view the Eye on Malacca ferris wheel from the bus.
We stopped in front of the biggest Jusco shopping mall at Malacca. We had two bowls of oyster mee suah and xxl crispy chicken at the Shihlin Taiwanese Street Snacks.
The mee suah came in a large portion but the crispy chicken was a bit disappointing because the meat was very thin and we can only ate the flour and chicken skin...
Then, we went to Tesco. Another shopping mall located next to Jaya Jusco. There is a bridge connecting to various locations in front of Tesco shopping mall. We used it to walk to the Malacca Sentral bus station.

Our bus started off from Malacca Sentral at 4pm and reach Bukit Jalil stadium at 6.30pm.. It took us 2 and a half hour to reach KL because we had to change to another bus on the way to the bus station..

Then we took Star Line LRT and Putra Line LRT to Masjid Jamek. We took the Metro bus No.12 to Jaya One. We had our dinner at the new Sushi King at Jaya One.

They are having promotion of Buy 1 Free 1 plate of Sushi. They only charged you for a limited of 5 plates of lowest price of sushi.
We reached home at 9pm sharp. We were very very tired and both of us felt that happy time flies fast.. We miss our time at Malacca..
