Back to school!

20th July 2011 marks my first day of teaching in a private secondary school, Sri Cempaka. This school is located at Bukit Damansara which is about 10 minutes drive from my staying place. The best thing about school is you can have your memories refresh once again after leaving school for such a long time. 

This school uses the VLE or a web learning portal where the teacher uploads power point slides, prepare worksheets and home works and conducts assignments or quizzes. The students, then will connect to the internet to get access of these files. Basically, it sounds simple but for a traditional teacher like me who still prefer to use marker pen, whiteboard and books to teach is pretty hard..

There is no easy way to get used to it. I have to spend hours in front of my Macbook to explore the wonders of VLE. Oh, by the way, the Macbook is given by the school for teacher to utilize it for teaching purposes. therefore, I have to get hold of so many things at the same time. From learning to use the VLE and the Macbook..

The second best thing in this school is the short working hours, 8-3.30pm and I only have to teach the students 8 hours per week! Imagine that.. But, most of the time, I spent my time in the staff room creating lesson plans, preparing power point slides and worksheets..

Next Monday, I'll know my fate in this school. I am actually replacing a teacher who is on maternity leave. She will be coming back next Monday and.. we'll see what's the school decision.. Either to kick me out or let me stay.. Either 1..


By the way, it's August already.. Time flies.. I am still procrastinating my research paper. Hmm.. If I didn't get into this school, I might be in my hometown at this time. I booked the tickets to return to my hometown few months back. But who knows, I have to start working so urgently that I had to put my flight ticket into the waste bin..

That's the end of my July's story in August.. Now you know how busy I am =P
