Then we walked to the bus terminal, thinking to board a bus to the famous historical site Phnom Chisor. But they tried to ripped us off when we asked for the price. US$5 per person. According to Lonely Planet, it costs about 4000 riels/ US$1 per person to get to the Takeo province, 55 km south of the capital..
Then a tuk tuk driver approached us and asked where we were heading for the day. We told him our plan and he charged us US$30 for a day trip to Phnom Chisor and Tonle Bati. Deal!
Had an unforgettable ride because of the old tuk tuk. Throughout our 3 hours of bumpy and dusty ride to Phnom Chisor, his tuk tuk broke down frequently and we had to visit some of the small workshops located along the road.
Morning scenes in Phnom Penh.
Dusty and super bumpy ride to reach our destination. Spotted some skinny cows on the way.
Some wooden houses along the dusty road.
At last! We reached our destination.. Couldn't feel my ass when I got off from the tuk tuk.
The stairs led us to the Phnom Chsior site. On top of a hill.
Jaw-dropping views at Phnom Chisor. Overlooking the spectacular countryside view on the summit.
This temple was built on the 11th century
The big entrance was at the bottom of the hill.
Some ruined sandstones
Writings were discovered on the wall of the temple. Couldn't understand it anyway
There were no other tourists beside us. Wondering why no one visited this place. There were other two tourists accompanied by a local tour guide. We chatted for a while and he told us that it was his first time he saw Asian people (us) visited the place. He said Asians was too lazy to get their way here. Haha.
Breathtaking views here. No regret of coming. =)
Our next stop Prasat Taprom Tonle Bati, 33 km south of Phnom Penh.
Admission fee was US$3 per person.
Tonle Bati is home to two Angkorian era temples.
Ta Phrom was built by King Jayavarman on the site of a 6th century of Khmer shrine.
The popular lakeside view
Kids brought us here and followed us everywhere.. Quite annoying because the younger ones kept on asking you to take their handpicked flowers as a gift. And the others asked you to give them money. We refused but couldn't stand it anymore and gave them some money..
Our third stop of the day at Killing Fields of Cheuong Ek.
Watched some documentary film at the museum.
The skeletons tower.
Big holes were spotted at the killing field. Used to bury victims after they were executed..
Clear and still lake water kept memories of the gruesome killing between year 1975 to 1978.
We asked the tuk tuk driver to drop us at the Russian market. I was thinking to have our dinner at one of the recommended restaurants by Lonely Planet. The restaurant was close to the Russian Market according to the map. But we couldn't find the place.
Asked directions from locals but they couldn't understand English..We're so hungry and exhausted looking for that restaurant. At last we gave up and asked directions to get us to the riverfront. We walked until night approached us and we were so scared of the surroundings. Unknown places and lost of directions. Walked really fast to get us to the riverfront. When we reached riverfront, we were so tired yet felt relieved because we were still in one piece..
Dinner at a restaurant. Forgot its name but it was delicious. We ordered sweet and sour pork & French beans with pork. A meal for two costs US$9.
End of Day 2..To be continued..
